With the high number of fires attributed to the build up of grease and fats in an extraction system,all good insurance policies will specify cooking fume extraction canopies and ductwork are cleaned and serviced by an independent specialist contractor.

If it is proved a grease build up in the extraction system caused a fire, Restaurant and Take-away owners will find their insurance policies void and end up in court with potentially hefty fines to pay.

Insurance Requirements

Insurers will insist on regular cleaning, record keeping and certification from accredited B&ES companies.

  • Before and after micron reading to determine compliance and recommended frequency
  • Full before and after photographic report and certificate of compliance
  • Schematic drawing of duct system, highlighting access points
  • Any additional recommendations
